Abstract:
-
This seminar delves into the intricate relationship between art and architecture, spotlighting the pivotal role of art as a comprehensive tool for conceptualizing architectural installations. Through a series of four interrelated presentations, the speakers will scrutinize how art functions as a conductive tool for perceptual understanding, while art installations serve as unconventional means for architectural interpretation. Central to the discussion is the concept of the “Visible Language” of architecture, inspired by Italo Calvino’s invisible cities. Presentations aim to distill insights gleaned from a decade’s worth of workshops on the Italian iconic cities, reimagined through cinematic art, shadows, and movement, thereby conjuring the elusive essence of dreams through meticulously crafted art installations and ephemeral paper model.
-
PhD. Arch. Ana Maria Crisan and PhD. Arch. Alexandru Crisan will Explore the nexus of art and architecture through the lectures “In the (in)Visible Language of Architecture“ and “Art as a Comprehensive Mechanism for Model Installation“. These presentations delve into the heart of our theme, exploring the enigmatic realm of invisible cities through cinematic artistry and ephemeral paper models. Through meticulous craftsmanship and evocative shadows, they reveal how art serves as a conductive tool, illuminating the complex interplay between space, form, and perception. Additionally, they investigate the repetition and difference theories by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, examining how repetition operates as a productive force generating differences. They draw upon insights from workshops spanning over a decade, which reimagine these cities outside the geographic borders or the limits of time, conjuring the essence of dreams through art installations and paper models.
-
PhD. Arch. Robert Zotescu‘s presentation on “Perceiving Artistic Dimensions in Contemporary Architecture“ navigates the evolving landscape of contemporary architecture, spotlighting the integration of artistic dimensions into the fabric of design discourse. Through nuanced analysis and case studies, attendees will gain insights into the transformative power of creativity and expression in shaping the architectural zeitgeist.
-
phD.candidate Arch. Amalia Enache explores “Rhythms In Architecture: Exploring the Connections between Music and Space“, unveiling the link between the visual language of architecture and rhythmic harmonies. Drawing parallels between the rhythmic cadences of music and the spatial compositions of architecture, this presentation embarks on a journey through historical epochs and contemporary trends. Attendees will unravel the profound interconnections between musical composition and architectural design, culminating in practical workshops that breathe life into theoretical principles.
-
The seminar fosters a nuanced comprehension of the intertwined dynamics between art and architecture, surpassing conventional limitations. It illuminates the complexities of spatial perception and aesthetic engagement, thereby enriching participants’ scholarly insights into these symbiotic disciplines.
